09 Feb 2024 | by m-duque@unesco.org
The UNEP/GEF "Implementing the Strategic Action Programme for the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand" (SCS SAP Project) organized the 2nd Meeting of the Project Steering Committee on 30-31 January 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.

This is the first physical meeting of the committee after the pandemic, participated by the National Focal Points and National Technical Focal Points from Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, together with Ms. Isabelle Vanderbeck, UNEP Task Manager and Ms. Katrin Lichtenberg, UNOPS Head of Portfolio, supported by the National Coordinators and Mr. Anders Poulsen, Senior Project Manager, who acted as the Secretariat of the meeting.

This marks a successful meeting as it achieves its objectives, particularly the approval of the revised overall work plan and budget, the project extension until 2026, and a new execution arrangement with UNOPS as the sole executing agency. The outcomes of the meeting represent not only the key milestones for the full implementation of project extension but also the reaffirmation of the commitment of participating countries in achieving the targets of the coastal and marine environment components of the Strategic Action Programme, which contributes to global developments and commitments, and national priorities.
