GEF IW:LEARN at the UN-Water Summit on Groundwater 2022 (7-8 December 2022, UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France)
The event presented examples from multiple projects from the GEF International Waters (GEF IW) portfolio on how solutions for water security involving groundwater have been assessed, formulated and/or implemented. These range from understanding flows of groundwater within the water cycle, to devising governance arrangement for adequate consideration of groundwater at transboundary level.

The UN-Water Summit on Groundwater resulted in a call for Governments and other stakeholders to scale up efforts to better manage groundwater, including through the integrated and intersectoral co-management of surface water and groundwater systems, together with desalinated and reclaimed water.
