Ministry of Environment and Forests

The Ministry is responsible for water management and risk management on the national level in Romania. The Romanian Ministry of Environment promotes a unitary, coherent environmental policy setting. Some major targets to achieve: integration of environmental requirements in sectorial strategies, monitoring and diminishing climate change risks, risk management and prevention of drought associated disasters, raising public awareness and strengthening cooperation with envinronmental non-governmental associations. Representatives of the Ministry represent Romania in relevant working groups and panels on European level in the water scarcity and drought domain. Since the Ministry has to coordinate all actions regarding situations of hydrological drought and water scarcity it is necessary to bring up to date plans of restriction and water utilization in times of water scarcity
