Abidjan Convention

The Convention and its protocol concerning cooperating in combating pollution in cases of emergency came into force in 1984. To date the Convention covers the marine environment, coastal zones and related inland waters falling within the jurisdiction of the States of the Western African Region, from Mauritania to South Africa.

Academy of Sciences

The National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Korea, is the senior national organization of distinguished Korean scientists and scholars. It was founded to promote learning and research in all areas of sciences by conferring membership and preferential treatment to those who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of sciences and learning. The Academy consists of 150 Fellows who are selected by their peers for their contributions to the sciences and education.

Advisory Committee on Protection of the Sea (ACOPS)

The primary aim of ACOPS is to promote strategies for the sustainable development of the coastal and marine environment, through scientific, legal and policy research, and advisory and public awareness activities.

Africa Collaborative Center for Earth Systems Science

African Collaborative Centre for Earth Systems Science (ACCESS), was established at the University of Nairobi and is registered in Kenya since 1997. The primary functions are: To foster global change research on a regional scale, including the impacts of climate change on water resources, food security, ecosystem, health and sustainable development in Africa, To develop human resources and enhance regional scientific capacity and To provide support for policy formulation and institutional development in Africa. ACCESS is an existing regional body of African Scientists, an institution that is associated and housed in the University of Nairobi, but is financially independent from it. It has also rights granted from the Government of Kenya to operate USD/Euro account.
