As countries prepare to celebrate World Environment Day on June 5th and World Oceans Day on June 8th, untreated sewage continues to be one of the major threats to public health and the Region’s rich biodiversity. Limitations in technical capacity for environmental management and limited awareness, knowledge and understanding of alternative and appropriate treatment technologies are among the factors that negatively affect wastewater management in the Region.
