The Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem Phase II

BOBLME II is a five-year project (2023-2028) with funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) - International Waters and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), and jointly implemented with FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (FAORAP), IUCN the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) and Bay of Bengal Programme Inter-Governmental Organisation. (BOBPIGO). This collaborative project aims to tackle urgent challenges and promote sustainability in seven countries – Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Thailand – through sustainable management of fisheries, conservation of critical marine habitats, marine and coastal pollution management, improved livelihoods and building of a regional coordination mechanism. The video introduces the Bay of Bengal and its challenges, and provides solutions through the work of the BOBLME II project, describing the project’s goals, objectives and work.
