Pollution Marine Public Awareness

Somewhere in the Caribbean, Natural Girl realizes she has been in a toxic relationship for too long and decides it's time for a long overdue break-up. This short #CleanSeas video, produced by the Global Environment Facility-funded Integrating Water, Land and Ecosystems Management in Caribbean Small Island Developing States (GEF IWEco) Project, takes a lighter look at the issue of marine litter and asks everyone around the world to break-up with single-use plastics and make their pledge at cleanseas.org. In the Caribbean, much plastic waste ends up in the ocean, where it harms marine life and can in turn threaten ecosystems, health and the region’s tourism-based economy. For residents of the Caribbean, plastic pollution not only diminishes the natural beauty their nations are known for, but it also compromises the role of the ocean as a provider of food, other resources, and livelihoods.
