Project Objective: To improve Lake Bizerte’s wastewater management, thereby reducing land-based pollution in Lake Bizerte and to the adjacent Mediterranean Sea, through piloting inter-ministerial policy dialogue, supporting foundational capacity building in environmental management and providing access to infrastructure investment finance. Lake Bizerte has been identified as a pollution hotspot connected both to the Mediterranean Sea and to Lake Ichkeul, which is a wetland of international importance designated as a RAMSAR site and UNESCO-MAB reserve.
