SIDS4 Virtual Side Event on Integrated Approaches to Ocean Governance

The Global Ocean Forum, University of the South Pacific, Solomon Islands National University, and the Office of the Pacific Ocean Commissioner in collaboration with the Common Oceans Cross-sectoral Project, have organized a virtual side event during the 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) to be held on 28 May 2024 from 17-18:30 Antigua and Barbuda Time (GMT-4).

The Global Ocean Forum, the University of the South Pacific, Solomon Islands National University, and the Office of the Pacific Ocean Commissioner in collaboration with the Common Oceans Cross-sectoral Project, have organized a virtual side event during the 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) to be held on 28 May 2024 from 17-18:30 Antigua and Barbuda Time (GMT-4).

The event, titled Integrated approaches to ocean governance in the context of climate change, the BBNJ Agreement, and Small Island Developing States, will bring together a high-level panel to discuss integrated and collaborative approaches used to advance the ocean agenda within the climate, biodiversity, and sustainable development frameworks. The event will underscore the opportunities provided by the adoption of the Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ Agreement) to explore the mitigation and adaptation potential of marine areas beyond national jurisdiction, along with its ecosystems and resources.
