Twenty-fifth meeting of the United Nations Open-ended Informal Consultative Process on Oceans and the Law of the Sea (ICP25; 16 - 20 June 2025)

16 - 20 June 2025
IW:LEARN is excited to announce its participation as panelist at the twenty-fifth meeting of the United Nations Open-ended Informal Consultative Process on Oceans and the Law of the Sea (ICP25; 16 - 20 June 2025). This year’s meeting focused on “Capacity-building and the transfer of marine technology: new developments, approaches and challenges”.

This opportunity, initiated by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), recognized IW:LEARN’s longstanding contribution to developing capacities, fostering learning, facilitating knowledge exchange, and enhancing collaboration across the GEF-funded Large Marine Ecosystems (LMEs) portfolio. It also reinforced the efforts of the LME Advisory Committee to mainstream the LME approach into broader global environmental and policy frameworks.

Dr. Claudette Spiteri, IW:LEARN Project Manager at UNESCO-IOC, joined the panel segment discussion on “Enabling and enhancing capacity-building and the transfer of marine technology through international cooperation and coordination: challenges and opportunities” on Wednesday 18 June 2025. Her presentation focused on the role of IW:LEARN in strengthening capacities through regional and global collaboration, as one of its three service lines to the GEF International Waters portfolio.

Stay tuned for updates on what will be discussed during the event.
