Strategic Action Program(SAP) for Guarani Aquifer
The Strategic Action Program is the outcome of six years of intense collective effort for the production of knowledge, and of a fruitful process of interaction among sectors responsible for water-resources management in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. The goal of assisting these countries to develop a framework for protection and sustainable development of the Guarani Aquifer System (GAS) has been fully achieved, as this document describes. Today, groundwater management, an non-transferable duty of each of the countries that overlie the GAS, is equipped with technical bases for development. Moreover, the international sectors involved have fulfilled their mission of promoting cooperation among the different beneficiary countries, by means of the Project for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development of the Guarani Aquifer System (PGAS).
