Ballast Water Risk Assessment Port of Dalian Peoples Republic of China
The introduction of harmful aquatic organisms and pathogens to new environments via ships ballast water (BW) and other vectors has been identified as one of the four greatest threats to the worlds oceans. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is working to address the BW vector through various initiatives. One initiative has been the provision of technical assistance to developing countries through the GEF/UNDP/IMO Global Ballast Water Management Programme (GloBallast).
