Large marine ecosystems of the world: an annotated bibliography (2017–2024)
The Large Marine Ecosystem (LME) approach offersa biogeographic framework of 66 regions to supportecosystem-based management of oceans andcoasts. Since 1995, the Global Environment Facility(GEF) has backed sustainable governance in 23LMEs, involving 124 countries in long-term,transboundary ocean governance to address keyenvironmental and socio-economic issues.Recognized globally over the past 30 years, LME-related scientific literature has grown steadily. In 2015,NOAA launched an effort to compile this body of work, resulting in the first volume: Large Marine Ecosystemsof the World: An Annotated Bibliography (Kelley, 2016).The current volume continues this effort, coveringpublications from 2017 to 2024 to inform marinescience and management communities.
