Water Supply and Sanitation Coverage in East Asian Countires

Back cover of Tropical Coasts journal 2003. A global challenge: Water and Sanitation. It is estimated that more than 2.2 million people in developing countries die each year from diseased stemmed from a lack of access to safe drinking water and inadequate sanitation. The World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) developed a plan of implementation that identified numerous global sustainable development goals, among which were access to safe water and basic sanitation. The plan called for the halving of the proportion of people who are unable to reach or afford safe drinking water and basic sanitation by 2015.
