Individual National Consultant on Gender - Nile Basin Initiative
Summary
The project objective is to enhance knowledge and capacity for sustainable use and management of transboundary aquifers and aquifers of regional significance in the Nile Basin. More specifically, the project will build on previous GEF-financed actions:
a) to further improve knowledge and understanding of groundwater resources in the Nile Basin;
b) to strengthen the overall water resources management nationally and basin-wide;
c) to respond to climate change impacts through effective risk-reduction adaptation measures, including conjunctive use and management of surface water and groundwater; and,
d) to ensure a healthy ecosystem and strengthened livelihoods
The Gender Consultant shall support the GEF PPG Team Leader in the preparation of the UNDP-GEF Project Document (ProDoc). The Gender Consultant shall be responsible for preparation of all gender-related inputs to the project document including gender analysis for the participating countries, preparation of a strategy for mainstreaming gender issues in the project and preparation of an action plan.
The countries participating in the project are Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania & Uganda.
