Website Toolkit
IW:LEARN works with GEF International Waters projects to improve online sharing of data and information relevant to managing international waters, including marine, coastal and freshwater ecosystems.
An important activity of IW:LEARN is to implement its Website Toolkit which provides support for developing a dynamic content management system. Websites developed using the Toolkit incorporate usability, accessibility and metadata standards, and will be linked through IW:LEARN and UNEP's distributed discovery mechanism. The resulting network will allow access to high quality data and information and ensure dissemination to a broader community of stakeholders.
The Website Toolkit is based on Plone open source software which is a user-friendly and powerful content management system - it can function as an extranet and intranet server, document publishing system, and as a groupware tool for online collaboration between users.
With the Website Toolkit, you can build robust and sophisticated websites using simple and familiar tools. A vast variety of layouts (themes) and products make it easier to design the site that you need, while enhanced publishing, workflow features and options help you get your web pages online quickly
and effectively. Read a short information material outlining why an Open Source Content Management System is the right solution for you.
IW:LEARN has a competent team composed of experienced Plone administrators and application developers, theme designers and content editors who are dedicated to helping GEF IW projects develop and manage their own websites.
USER COMMUNITY

Meet the projects that have utilized the Website Toolkit for their websites. You can share data and information, and easily syndicate your web content using RSS (really simple syndication) so users can automatically receive updates of your new content. Learn from each other and build a stronger International Waters community.
The IW:LEARN will work hand-in-hand with GEF IW Projects throughout the development process until the launch of the project website.
