The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) is a regional commission with the of promoting inclusive and sustainable economic and social development. It accords to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals which includes access to clean and safe drinking water. UNESCAP likewise invests in pocy analysis and peer learning among Member states regarding water infrastructure and water-related hazards.

More about UNESCAP

Established in 1947, ESCAP works to overcome some of the region’s greatest challenges by providing results oriented projects, technical assistance and capacity building to member States.

It supports peer learning and cooperation among Member States through its convening power to bring countries together to address issues that require collective action to build and sustain shared economic growth and social equity. Among its initiatives is the development of a Water Security Framework aimed at providing comprehensive tools to policymakers to hold baseline access to sufficient quality water to meet basic needs, and for agricultural and industrial uses
