Project Brief
- This project is a regional initiative to assist CElTs to comply with the wade and licensing provisions Of the Montreal Protocol and prevent illegal trade in ODSs, based on the identified need for such \ Assistance. This initiative would consist of development and translation of a training module and Other information and regional training on the establishment of import and export licensing systems For monitoring the control of ODSs. The short-term objective is to enhance the capacity of the national focal points to design and implement effective phase-out policies through training and regional cooperation among CEITs to decrease the incidence of illegal ODS trade. The long term Objective is to promote and facilitate an early elimination of use of ODS and compliance with the trade and licensing provision of the Montreal Protocol

SWIOFP-Project brief
- The SWIOFP is one of three closely linked projects. SWIOFP is the beneficiary of environmental data produced by the Agulhas and Somali Currents Large Marine Ecosystem Project (ASCLMEs) implemented by the UNDP, and the WIO-LaB Project which is implemented through UNEP in Nairobi. SWIOFP uses the outputs of these other related projects to produce a “Program level” outcome- an ecologically based series of regional or sub-regional fisheries management plans.
-
Yangtze-Project brief
- The project objective is to promote and implement an integrated ecosystem management approach for the upper Yangtze River basin to reduce sediment loads, increase catchment water retention capacity, conserve and sustainably use biological diversity, and decrease net Greenhouse Gas emission, while improving socio-economic conditions.
-
MACEMP-Project brief
- Tanzania has put in place policies and strategies on poverty reduction. These include the Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) finalized in 2000, which guides the World Bank’s efforts in this sector.
-
Egypt groundwater-Project brief
- In many arid and semi-arid countries worldwide, sporadic precipitation occurs over mountainous areas and is channeled throughout extensive watersheds as surface runoff and subsurface groundwater flow. Within these watersheds, networks of minor valleys join into main valleys that ultimately drain into other water bodies (e.g., oceans, lakes, and rivers). Because some of the watersheds collect precipitation over large areas and channel it through a few main valleys, substantial amounts of freshwater could potentially recharge the alluvial aquifers flooring these main valleys during sporadic storms.
-
GoM-Project brief
- The GoM LME is an important centre of marine biodiversity, marine food production as well as oil and gas production. The distinctive bathymetry, hydrography, productivity and trophodynamics combine to make it a highly productive system with a mean annual productivity of 300g C/m2/yr.
-
NPA Arctic-Project brief
- Major outcomes will include a nationally approved Strategic Action Programme to address damage and threats to the arctic environment from land-based activities in the Russian Federation; direct and related improvements to environmental protection (legislative, regulatory and institutional and technical capacity) within the Russian Federation; the completion of ten pre-investment studies to determine the highest priority and tractable interventions to correct or prevent transboundary impacts of land-based activities; and three categories of demonstration projects dealing respectively with marine environmental clean up, the transfer of two decommissioned military bases to civilian control, and involving indigenous peoples in environmental and resource management. The results are intended to benefit the international arctic environment, particularly the Arctic Ocean basin and its shelf seas, and contribute to two principal international agreements: the Arctic Council Plan of Action to Eliminate Pollution of the Arctic; and the Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-Based Activities (GPA) as implemented in the Arctic Region through the Arctic Regional Programme of Action and the Arctic Council Plan of Action to Eliminate Pollution of the Arctic (ACAP).

-
MED Partnership LME- Project brief
- The countries of the Mediterranean basin recognize that they need a more coordinated and innovative approach to the implementation of the SAPs that accelerates on-the-ground implementation of priority actions and removes the institutional, financial and technical barriers to investments.
-
WPEA-PIF
- To strengthen national capacities and international cooperation on priority transboundary concerns relating to the sustainable use, conservation and management of highly migratory fish stocks in the west Pacific Ocean and East Asia (Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam).
-
Mekong-Project brief
- The Project would help the member states of the Mekong River Commission (MRC): Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam, implement key elements of the 1995 Agreement on Cooperation for Sustainable Development of Mekong Basin (Agreement). The Project's broad development objectives would be to assist the MRC to establish mechanisms to promote and improve coordinated and sustainable water management in the Basin, including reasonable and equitable water utilization and water quality management by the countries of the Basin and protection of sensitive ecological systems including wetlands, flooded forests and the estuary system that support globally significant bio-diversity.

Marine Electronic Highway Project Brief
- The project is the first (demonstration) phase of a potential two-phase program to eatablish a Marine Electronic Highway (MEH) in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore. The Demonstration Project's objective is to determine if a full-scale MEH for the Straits is economically justified and financially feasible. The potential full-scale MEH program's development objectives are to increase the efficiency of marine transport through the Straits, reduce its negative environmental impacts, and strengthen the conservation and mangement of neighboring marine and coastal environments.
-
Gulf of Honduras-Project brief
- This project proposal for the environmental management of the Gulf of Honduras (GOH), “Environmental Protection and Maritime Transport Pollution Control in the Gulf of Honduras,” has a primary focus on demonstration of new and mixed technologies to address some of the major environmental problems and issues of the Gulf leading to the degradation of marine and coastal ecosystems by human activities. The long-term goal of the project is to reverse the degradation of the coastal and marine ecosystems by enhancing the control and prevention of maritime transport-related pollution in the major ports and navigation lanes, improving navigational safety to avoid groundings and spills, and reducing land-based inputs to the adjacent coastal and marine areas within the Gulf of Honduras.

Gulf of Honduras Project Brief / Descripción del Proyecto:
These issues have been identified as Major Perceived Problems and Issues (MPPI) during the TDA process. Chemical spills, collisions, and ship groundings occur in this region due to lack of capacity and lack of demonstration of both innovative and available technologies to minimize these events through regional cooperation.
