Program Study on International Waters - 2004
This Study was undertaken in preparation of the Third Study of GEF's Overall Performance. The report provides an assessment of GEF supported interventions in four water bodies and demonstration projects under implementation. The selected projects constitute nearly half of GEF allocations to the focal area. The study also includes a review of completed Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis and Strategic Action Programs. The study concludes that the GEF projects have made significant contributions in the environmental protection and restoration of transboundary water bodies. It also concludes that there is a need for clearer guidance of concepts, tools and processes, for better regional coordination among projects, and for the overall improvement of M&E systems across the IW focal area.
