Winners of UN International Contest “Draw for the Planet – draw for the Future” announced
Other winners:
2nd place – Danylo Grynishyn, 13, from Pervomaysk, Kharkivska oblast’, “Dirty water”;
3rd place – Victoria Bogonos, 13, from Sakhamin, Khmelnytska oblast, “Banned zone”;
4th place – Anastasiya Tymoshenko, Ternopil oblast, “The nature’s soul is sensitive and kind”;
5th place – Olesya Dubas, 11, Yalta, “Let’s give them the last chance”.
Besides the main category, two winners have been chosen in the special nomination “Save the Dnipro river”:
- Oksana Golovachova, Kharkiv, “We stand for the pure nature”
- Tetyana Krushelnytska, Ternopil “The nature is ashamed of us – people”
An official awarding ceremony of the winners will kick off the celebration of the World Environment Day in Kyiv, on 5 June, in Mariyinskyi Park, summer stage “Rakushka” at 12 pm.
Organizational committee of the International drawing competition, organized by the UN office in Ukraine, received around 2, 000 drawings from Ukraine, China, Moldova and Turkey during the period of 1 March – 10 May 2011.
Winners were selected by a jury of UN officials, environmental experts and artists, including Olivier Adam, UN Resident Coordinator, Dmytro Rushchak, Manager of UNDP - GEF Dnipro Basin Environment Programme, Svitlana Nigorodova, Manger of GEF Small Grants Programme in Ukraine, Vasyl Tolkachov, Manager of UNDP /GEF Strengthening governance and financial sustainability of the national protected area system in Ukraine Project, an artist Akbar Khurasani, Oleksandr Ivaniuk, Editor in Chief of Odnoklsnyk magazine, Olena Shamray, representative of the National Youth Ecological Centre at the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sport of Ukraine, and Natalia Goncharuk, Marketing Coordinator at “Olympus” office in Ukraine. Exhibition with selected entries will be organized in Mariyinskyi Park, summer stage “Rakushka”, Kyiv, during the celebration of the World Environment Day on 5 June.
