Seaweed-producing village heeds wake-up call for early action adaptation planning

25 Mar 2015 | by IW:LEARN
CTI-SEA released its first Experience Note on climate change adaptation (CCA) which focused on the results and lessons from conducting the vulnerability assessment (VA) in Arakan, a seaweed producing village in Tatapaan, South Minahasa, North Sulawesi, Indonesia in February 2014. Results showed that Arakan was vulnerable to the impacts of climate change due to their exposure, high sensitivity, and low capacity of the community. The process not only catalyzed local early action but also taught citizens that they had to develop their own adaptation plans based on their needs and ensure that these are ready for institutional support.
