GoM LME´s participation in the celebration of the XX Anniversary of the Protection Area of Flora and Fauna Laguna de Terminos

The XX Anniversary of the Protection Area of Flora and Fauna Laguna de Terminos (PAFFLT) was held within the frame of the World Environment Day where the GoM LME presented the work that the pilot projects on conservation and restoration of mangroves and recovery of living marine resources have done in the area the last five and three year, respectively. The event was held on June 5 and 6 at the Autonomous University of Carmen (UNACAR), Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche.
The information provided by Arturo Zaldivar, coordinator of the project "Conservation and Restoration of Mangroves," and Paloma Ladron de Guevara responsible for the project "Recovery of Living Marine Resources," was well received and aroused the public´s interest in the results and achievements that both projects have attained in the region. Both colleagues stressed that joining forces and multidisciplinary work between APFFLT, GOM LME, the academy (UNACAR, CICA, UJAT, UV and ECOSUR), communities, government (CONAFOR, SEMARNAT, CONANP) and various organizations were the key to successful results.
