Among key decisions taken were the following:
Proposed Institutional Design Studies: ToR for Key
Studies
The Nile-TAC endorsed the objective and scope of the three studies
based on the key institutional issues in the NBI. The three studies
are; Diagnostic study of existing transitional arrangements; Diagnostic
study of international River Based Organizations, as well as the
Regional collaboration and synergy study.
Accordingly, Nile-SEC was mandated to develop and circulate for
comments the detailed ToR to Nile-TAC before approval by the Sub
Committee.
Nile Basin Sustainability Framework and contribution of
SVP
It was recommended that Nile-SEC continues to develop the
sustainability framework concept under the Institutional Strengthening
Project (ISP) and to keep the Nile-TAC updated on the progress.
SVP Closing/ UNOPS MSA
In view of the closing of the Shared Vision Projects (SVP), Nile-TAC
approved the extension of UNOPS Management Support Service (MSA) up to
31 October 2010. The meeting also approved the principles and
priorities for assets transfer of the closing projects and agreed that
for continuity of activities, retaining of assets in the host
institutions be considered as a priority.
Preparation for 6th Nile Basin Trust Fund - Committee (NBTF – C)
informal meeting
NBTF funds allocation was approved. In addition, the request for second phase of the Regional Power Trade project as recently endorsed by the Ministers of Energy was approved for presentation to the 6th informal NBTF C meeting.
