IPCC climate projections visualised in Google Earth

Global temperature and precipitation changes are modelled for the 21st century within three different emissions scenarios: high emissions (A2); medium emissions (A1B); and low emissions (B1). These models can be viewed in Google Earth.

http://www.iwlearn.net/websitetoolkit/e-bulletin/e-bulletin-linked-files/earth_logo.pngAs part of IPCC's Fourth Assessment Report (2007), model projections were made based on analyses of various computer climate models running within different emissions scenarios. The climate model projections shown here are ensemble averages of all the climate models for mean surface temperature and mean precipitation.

Temperature and precipitation changes are calculated using decadal multi-model means (source: British Atmospheric Data Centre) for the 21st century and indicate departure from the period 1961-1990 for three emissions scenarios:

  • High emissions scenario (A2)
  • Medium emissions scenario (A1B)
  • Low emissions scenario (B1)
