Call for Papers to the Ballast Water Management Forum

The organizers, the GEF-UNDP-IMO GloBallast Partnerships (GBP) Programme, the UMA-Turkish Prime Ministry Undersecretariat for Maritime Affairs and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) are inviting abstracts for topics related to the forum. Submission should be no later than 15 July 2011.

Following the successful IMO-GloBallast R&D Forum in Malmo in January 2010, the Republic of Turkey and the GEF/UNDP/IMO GloBallast Partnerships are joining hands to organize the Research and Development Forum and Exhibition on Ballast Water Management in Istanbul, Turkey on 26-28 October 2011.

The main scope for this year's Forum is Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement (CME) activities and provides an opportunity to share the latest R&D efforts.

The themes for the Forum are:

Testing of technologies for compliance
Port State Control issues and experiences
Risk assessments and related tools in the CME framework
Sampling and monitoring, including latest developments in rapid diagnostic tools
Performance of current technologies in meeting the compliance criteria
Developing country perspectives on CME
Compliance for alternative technologies
