Technical Adviser (P2) for GLOMEEP Project - IMO
Purpose of the post
Under the general supervision and with the support of the Head, ITCP Implementation and Major Projects (Project Coordinator) the incumbent will perform a variety of technical advisory and project management services in support activities to be performed in the framework of the GEF-UNDP-IMO GloMEEP Partnerships Programme.
a) Project implementation and coordination skills.
b) Thoroughness and excellent attention to detail in all responsibilities, ensuring accuracy in delivery and implementation.
c) Capacity for independent planning and ability to work under pressure.
d) Ability to draft effectively and convey information in a logical manner.
e) Builds and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, at all levels.
f) Good skills in assessing economic implications of introducing energy efficiency measures.
Minimum of four years’ experience in the dealing with scientific/environmental projects of which at least two years’ experience in dealing with ships energy efficiency and related regulatory developments; Experience within the UN common system or international Organizations, a distinct advantage.
Post-graduate degree in marine science, environmental science, marine engineering, maritime law, maritime policy, natural resources and maritime economics or any other related fields.
A perfect command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other UN languages, a distinct advantage.
Other knowledge and skills
Project management combined with IT skills including advanced skills in MS Office applications. Demonstrated experience in implementation of technical assistance activities. Familiarity with maritime transportation issues in general will be an advantage.
US$50,420 net per annum for staff with primary dependents and US$47,292 at single rate, plus post adjustment (currently US$43,815 at the dependant rate and US$41,097 at the single rate). Salary is free of income tax in the United Kingdom. For further benefits and entitlements please click here
