Programme Management Officer, Division for Treaty Affairs (UNODC)
The Programme Management Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Director of the Division. This position is located in the Office of the Director (OD), Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna, Austria. The incumbent will assist the Director in leading the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes, operations and other activities in the Division, including division planning, human resources, budgeting and administrative responsibilities (Application Deadline: 9 March 2012).
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and prepare written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc., review drafts of relevant documents and reports.
- Identify problems and issues in respect of the management of the Division and propose corrective actions, ensure appropriate follow-up, and liaise with relevant parties in the Division for Management.
- Perform lead responsibility for the conceptualization, preparation and coordination of substantive policy papers with respect to the different work areas of the Division.
- Advise the Director and Senior Managers on budgeting, financial, human resources and general administration and management information issues and practices.
- Organize and prepare written outputs.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration. Experience in drug control activities, crime or terrorism prevention, law enforcement, prosecution, criminal justice, international relations or related area is desirable.
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English, i.e. oral and written proficiency, is required.
- Working knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
