Representative, Greater Mekong Programme Office (WWF-GMPO)

The GMPO Representative is one of the key positions within the WWF network who will lead the Programme Office, ensuring conservation delivery for our offices based in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and the Secretariat Team in Hanoi, Vietnam. The incumbent will drive success in both conservation programme initiatives and operating systems in the GMPO, which is comprised of over 300 local and international staff working in one of the world’s most complex and diverse regions. Qualifications and Requirements:


  • An advanced degree in Business Management, International Relations/Development and other related fields. Additional training or a degree in the field of Environmental Science or Natural Resource Management is a strong asset
  • Technical proficiency in the field of conservation, natural-resource management or international development
  • At least 10 years professional experience in a leadership role, with demonstrated success in managing multi-disciplinary teams and multiple donor budgets of three million plus.
  • Proven leadership skills, excellent capacity to manage human and financial resources, strong skills in project planning, financing, implementation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated fund-raising skills and experience with donor/government aid agencies.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, ability to operate at all levels and liaise effectively with local communities, government agencies, governmental policy and decision makers, as well the business community.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of the not-for-profit sector, preferably of environmental non-government organisations. 
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and evaluating strategic plans, high level negotiation and influencing skills and the capacity to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels in the business, not-for-profit, scientific and political communities.

  • Collaborative, results-focused and able to drive change.
  • Extensive experience in fundraising from diverse sources of funding.
  • Experience in working with international, multicultural and multilingual organizations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong commitment to the WWF Mission and an interest in conservation.
