WWF International, Manager, Marine Programme
We're looking for an outstanding marine conservation professional to ensure the success of WWF's marine conservation goals driving strategic and innovative conservation action across the globe. The Manager provides technical expertise and guidance on marine policy
issues, as well as insights on global & regional trends and emerging issues in marine conservation to WWF’s Global Network of marine
conservation staff working in nearly 90 countries. The Manager also provides a vital link between the various marine programmes around the world and represent WWF with key external partners and relevant international fora. (Deadline: Friday 3rd April 2009)
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Advanced degree in marine, fisheries or environmental policy or science
- At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in marine fisheries conservation, policy, environmental law, environment and development or marine/coastal resources management
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of major marine conservation.
- Good understanding of the links between marine conservation and issues such as climate change, poverty, and international trade
- Experience in working with governments, corporate sector, aid agencies, civil society, and NGOs
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, generating innovative ways to drive marine conservation
- Experience in all aspects of project management, including strategic planning, funding proposal development, monitoring and evaluation and reporting
- Demonstrable ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary, multicultural, and decentralized teams
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English including the ability to clearly present complex technical and policy issues related to marine conservation; the ability to work and communicate in a second language is preferred
