Associate Programme Officer, (UNEP)
Under the general supervision of the Energy Programme Manager, UNEP/DTIE Energy Branch, the Associate Programme Officer will develop and implement financial support mechanisms, assist with the contracted activities of the project’s partner institutions and consultants and perform administrative tasks for the Energy Branch (Application Deadline: 5 March 2012).
Duty Station: Paris, France
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain links with relevant organizations, development banks, Non-Governmental Organizations and local institutions.
- Collect market information on finance and renewable energy sectors
- Investigate CDM activity and/or green certificates in targeted countries
- Propose relevant approaches in the use of UNEP resources and implementation phases
- Prepare and participate in stakeholder consultation process and contribute to communication and capacity building activities.
- Identify specific tasks and agreed responsibilities of partners and consultants.
Qualifications
- Advanced University degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in finance, economics, law or political science, or engineering science or related area. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management in sustainable energy finance sector, preferably with a focus on developing countries.
- Experience with energy technology projects, capacity building initiatives and facilitation of meetings/workshops for governments and stakeholder groups in developing countries and countries with economies in transition, an added advantage.
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
- Working knowledge of French or another UN language is desirable.
