The Arctic
Arctos is Greek for bear, and the Arctic region
derives its name from the stellar constellation
of Ursa major, the Great Bear. A common geographical
definition of the Arctic is the area
north of the Arctic Circle (66°32'N), which
encircles the area of the midnight sun.
