Ballast Water News Issue 4: January - March 2001
Issue Four of Ballast Water News marks the first anniversary of the GloBallast programme. Much has been achieved and the programme is now in full swing. During the last three months a number of technical activities have been completed or commenced, as highlighted within. The slightly delayed production of this issue also allows us to report on some activities from April. In January Captain Dandu Pughiuc of the GloBallast Programme Coordination Unit (PCU) lectured on ballast water management at the IMO World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmö, Sweden. This provided an important opportunity to raise awareness amongst future maritime administrators from around the world.
