Orange-Senqu River Basin: Preliminary Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis Executive Summary

This a UNDP-GEF sponsored “Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA) of the Orange-Senqu River Basin” and Strategic Action Programme development project among four of the riparian nations. This project aims to ensure that the quality and quantity of the water throughout the Orange-Senqu river system meets the short and long-term needs of the ecosystem, the communities and economies relying upon the river and its associated resources. The project is expected to achieve its objectives by: encouraging regional cooperation; increasing capacity to address water quality and quantity problems; demonstrating water quality/quantity improvements; initiating required policy and legal reforms; identifying and preparing priority investments; and developing sustainable management and financial arrangements.
