The MedPartnership - News

The UNEP/MAP GEF Strategic Partnership for the Mediterranean Large Marine Ecosystem (MedPartnership) is a collective effort of leading organizations (regional, international, non governmental, etc.) and countries sharing the Mediterranean Sea towards the protection of the marine and coastal environment of the Mediterranean. The MedPartnership is being led by UNEP/MAP and the World Bank and is financially supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and other donors, including the EU and all participating countries.

Nov 17, 2011 Awareness raising workshop on POPs in Egypt by CP/RAC
The UNEP / MAP Regional Activity Center for Cleaner Production (CP/RAC) organized an awareness raising workshop on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in the American University of Cairo (Egypt). The "POPs in our Life" workshop took place on 15th November 2011 with the aim to give attendants basic information about toxic chemicals that are present in our daily life.

The application showcases the project and its activities in a friendly manner using cutting-edge technology. Through the extensive use of imagery and video, it manages to illustrate the activities of the project in an attractive manner.

The Regional Conference on Advancing Non-Conventional Water Resources Management in the Mediterranean, which is the first replication event of the MedPartnership, will take place on 14-15 September 2011 in Athens, Greece.
Sep 07, 2011 Sustainable Financing for MPAs in Croatia
As part of the MedPAN South project, directed towards establishing an efficient management of marine protected areas in the Mediterranean, Association Sunce and WWF held a "Sustainable financing in MPAs" workshop in Croatia. The aim of the workshop was to introduce different possibilites for financing of MPAs to the management staff of Croatian marine national and nature parks and to help them create realistical financial plans.
