This report is, first of all, a compilation of information and data1 that describing the institutions and conditions that shape and characterize the provision of municipal water and wastewater service in Hungary2. The purpose of this compilation is to provide background and inspiration for proposals to reform both the current system of water and wastewater tariffs and effluent charges and coincident proposals to adjust or modify the legal and regulatory system within which these tariffs and effluent charges function in Hungary.
