A regional Workshop on the Development of an Eastern Africa Coastal and Marine Environment Clearinghouse Mechanism was held in the period 9-11 May 2006 at UNEP Headquarters in Nairobi in Kenya. The meeting was attended by 25 delegates from Western
Indian Ocean Region countries participating in the implementation of WIO-LaB Project, namely South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Seychelles, Comoros, Madagascar and Mauritius. The meeting was also attended by representatives of international and regional organizations and programmes including WIOMSA, NEPAD, IOC-UNESCO, ODINAFRICA, SADCO, WWF-EAME, ASCLME, SWIOFP and ACEP.
