Partner/Collaborator News Laguna, Philippines — The hot issue of biodiversity and climate change will receive a much-needed public awareness boost when the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (German Agency for International Cooperation) or GIZ, and the Philippine Press Institute (PPI) launch the special award on "Best in Biodiversity and Climate Change Reporting" at the 16th National Press Forum on April 24 at Traders Hotel Manila.
The International WaterCentre’s Masters Scholarships are now open to study the IWC Master of Integrated Water Management in Australia in 2013. Using problem-based and experiential learning, IWC students create and implement integrated solutions to real-world water and climate change challenges. The degree is co-badged and co-delivered by four leading Australian universities: The University of Queensland, Griffith University, Monash University and the University of Western Australia.
GWP in Action is the annual report of the Global Water Partnership, presenting the progress, challenges and status of the Partnership from around the world.
The High-Level Roundtable on Water Resources Management System Development in China was organized by GWP China on April 20, 2012, in Beijing. The meeting aimed at establishing water management mechanisms with well-defined duties, rights and responsibilities, coordination mechanisms for the development of river basins, and facilitating stricter and better water management through the integrated water resources management approach.
On 25 April, GWP Rwanda took a first step to implement the Water Resources Management (WRM) Strategy of Rwanda by holding a workshop, jointly organized with the Netherlands Development Organization under the theme: "Towards IWRM through collaboration and partnerships between all actors at all levels".
With the objective to inspire Caribbean journalists to report more on water, GWP Caribbean launched its first annual Media Awards on Water on 5 March 2012. The winner is Mr. Shane Hubbard, an Editor and Videographer from CNS TV6 in Guyana who produced a television submission under the theme “Water and Food Security”.
GWP conducted a training course on the “Application of the GWP IWRM ToolBox” at the Yerevan State University in Armenia, 25-26 April 2012. One of the main purposes of the training was to demonstrate how the GWP IWRM ToolBox can be used in university curricula.
Under the theme, “Water, Energy and Food Security: Call for Solutions”, more than 1,000 water professionals from India and abroad participated in of the first India Water Week in April, in New Delhi. In the race to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the role of small-scale WATSAN (water and sanitation) providers is indispensable. However, as this report " Small-scale finance for water and sanitation " claims, there is little awareness or cohesion among external support sgencies (ESAs), including EU donors, on the best way to increase financing for small-scale providers.
Partner/Collaborator News Calatagan, Batangas — Some 100 representatives of the business community, media, people's organizations, local government units, and international organizations trooped to Ang Pulo Mangroves in Calatagan, Batangas on May 15 for a media forum and mangrove planting activity. The multi-sector event dubbed "Conserve Marine Biodiversity, Conserve Life" forms part of the events organized for the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) 2012 and the National Oceans Month.

In the month of March, Marseille played host to the biggest of our community’s gatherings, the 6th World Water Forum. Some 35,000 practitioners, government representatives, NGOs and various other stakeholders in the water sector convened for the triennial gathering. There were several new commitments made at the Forum to improve global, regional and local management of water resources.
