The purpose of this workshop is to assist projects in creating and managing a project website using the freely available IW:LEARN Toolkit. In addition, related ICT subjects such as GIS and content syndication will be discussed.
Target Audience
The workshop is appropriate for information specialists, IT managers and project members who are responsible for developing and/or maintaining a project website.
Outcome

Participants will gain a comprehensive overview of the Toolkit capabilities and functions including freely available resources on the internet. Participants will also gain hands-on knowledge on how to create, manage and maintain the website with little or no IT knowledge.

Participants will be introduced to WebGIS using the Toolkit's GIS module including how it can be used to access data from other GIS map servers on the internet.

IW:LEARN will have a better understanding of project needs and develop a joint work plan to address these needs in reasonable work time.

Sponsorship for Air tickets
In addition to covering the cost of hotel accommodation, meals and transfers to and from the airport, IW:LEARN will sponsor air travel (economy airfare) for one project member to attend the workshop subject to the following conditions:
1. Sponsorship is provided to projects that intend or are committed to using the IW:LEARN Toolkit to create and manage a project website.
2. Prior to the workshop, participants will collate basic content (partner information, logos etc) for adding to the project website during the workshop (forward to richard@iwlearn.org).
3. By the end of the workshop, a timetable for completing the project website and its officially launch will be established.

The 5-day workshop will be held in Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida, USA.

Meals and Accommodation
All meals and accommodation will be provided to all participants.
Accomodation
The whole team (training participants and UNEP trainers) will be staying on the FAU Boca Raton Campus dorm. You will share a suite with two or three rooms depending on arrangements made by the Housing Office. You will be at the Heritage Park Towers. The campus street address is 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton, FL 33431. The street address for Heritage Park Towers is 1800 Brevard Ct. Boca Raton, FL 33431.
FAU housing
MEALS
You will be eating your breakfasts, lunches and dinners on the Boca Campus in a room reserved for the group except for Wednesday night and Friday noon we will be eating in town. Breakfasts will take place in the multipurpose room located in Heritage Park Towers at 8:00AM everyday except for Friday when breakfast will be at 7:00AM. Lunches and dinners will take place in the Majestic Room in the University Center at 12:00 and 6:00PM respectively. The lunch will consist of sandwiches and wraps. The dinners will consist of either chicken, beef or fish depending on the day. If you have dietary restriction please let me know as soon as possible.
Wednesday night we will eat somewhere else in town and Friday we will eat lunch at the SFWMD or somewhere else in town as well.
For those of you arriving early on Sunday May 1, you will have dinner at 6:30PM in the Multipurpose Room in Heritage Park Towers. For those who will be arriving later you will have to grab something at the airport because the FAU food service will be closed by the time you get to the Campus.
Local Transport
Transfers to/from the airport and accommodation will be provided.
AIRPORT TRANSFER
Miami
You will be transferred from the airport to the Boca Campus with Super Shuttle Vans (Blue Vans). You should proceed to the Super Shuttle Desk located outside the arrival area (baggage claim) and give them your name. The trip from Miami to Boca Raton has been paid for already. The same arrangements have been made for the drop off at the airport at the end of the program. The campus street address is 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton, FL 33431. Fort Lauderdale
Please proceed to the Go Airport Shuttle outside the arrival area (baggage claim) and catch one of their vans. The vans run every half hour. They do not accept pre-payment and reservation so you will have to pay for the trip yourself and get reimbursed by your organization. You should have the van drop you off at the Boca Campus at the Heritage Park Towers. Please have a map of the campus with you to show the driver in case he cannot find the area http://uavp.fau.edu/Flashmap/FAUMap.html . TRAINING SCHEDULE
The training will take place in the Computer Lab of the Geosciences Department located in Physical Sciences Building. Coffee breaks at 3:00PM in the afternoon will take place in an adjacent room (Room 336A).
Friday morning we will tour the Operation Facility of the South Florida Water Management District in West Palm Beach.
