Integrated Water Management of Transboundary Catchments: a Contribution from TransCAT
Conference objectives: The Open TRANSCAT Conference on Integrated Water Management of Transboundary Catchments aims to connect TRANSCAT with EU institutions involved in the process of implementing the Water Framework Directive (WFD) and in particular with those activities related with the development of a Common Strategy on the Implementation of the Water Framework Directive, which were initiated at the informal meeting of EU Water Directors and the Norwegian Water Director in Paris 23-24 October 2000. The main objective of this conference is to improve information sharing and the dissemination of the knowledge and experience derived in the broad context of environmental and socio-economic research, supporting the synergy between the TRANSCAT project and other previous and ongoing international projects. Emphasis will be placed on the development of a platform for supporting pan-European cooperation and on networking and allowing a more detailed insight into problems related to water resource use. Special emphasis will be placed on what concerns transboundary water resources. Efforts will also be made to orient TRANSCAT activities in accordance with the aims of the FP6. The working language of the workshop will be English.
