Engendering International Waters
Time: 28 FEBRUARY 2017, 09:00 ET / 15:00 CET
The GEF recognizes gender equality as an important goal in the context of its projects. Based on this, IW:LEARN project has included in its fourth cycle a gender sub-component “Promotion of Gender Mainstreaming in the GEF IW Portfolio”, with the scope of achieving increased recognition of gender issues and attention on gender equality throughout the GEF IW projects.
The Gender sub-component includes amongst others a set of six webinars that aims to provide GEF IW projects with the elements and tools for training project staff and client country experts on water and gender issues, and learn how to incorporate gender considerations into water policies in different project contexts.
The First Webinar of Feb 28, intends to explain and discuss with GEF IW project and program officers (but others are most welcome!) the relevance of the ‘gender issue’, and discuss how newly developed gender & water analytical tools can be applied in the GEF IW project cycle to improve its effectiveness. It will explain:
- the objectives and activities of the gender IW:LEARN component;
- the role of the organizers (UNESCO-WWAP and WWF-US); hear what you the expect, and which role you can/want to play;
- the overall concept on gender (mainstreaming) and women’s empowerment.
- how gender analysis and mainstreaming can enhance the effectiveness of the projects and strengthen the basis for water cooperation.
It will also establish a long-term cooperation with a considerable group to stay connected and participate in the program.
Please register before 24 February by clicking the button below and following the instructions. You will receive an automated e-mail confirming your participation.
