Training Courses in River Assessment

The WFD requires all Member States to develop and implement a range of WFD compliant methods for assessing biological quality elements and the ecological status. In general, these methods have not been in routine use in Danube Basin countries and there is a need to provide a training course to ensure consistency of approach to the sampling and analysis of benthic macroinvertebrate data. The compilation of consistent data is a crucial step in River Basin Management and monitoring, as only comparable sets of biotic and abiotic data provide the basis for a joint analysis.
