Beyond the Source: The environmental, economic and community benefits of source water protection

Protecting and restoring the natural infrastructure of source watersheds can directly enhance water quality and quantity. There are many effective source water protection activities (Table ES.1). In this report, The Nature Conservancy models forest protection, reforestation and cover crops as one example of agricultural best management practices (BMPs). This report was developed in partnership with the Natural Capital Project, Forest Trends, the Inter-American Development Bank and the Latin American Water Funds Partnership.
