Most students at the University of Kalmar take part in a programme of study that lasts for three or four years. Many students choose to study for a degree by taking courses and combining subjects according to their own interests. Others study at the university in order to make up requirements that are missing from their qualifications. One way of doing this is by distance studies. The course programme at the University of Kalmar is broad and includes subjects in natural sciences, technology, maritime studies, teacher training, social science, economics, tourism, media studies, caring sciences, languages and humanities.
